Angelina Sedum
Angelina Sedum
Angelina Sedum (Sedum rupestre 'Angelina') is a striking, low-growing succulent groundcover featuring brilliant golden-yellow, needle-like foliage that takes on orange and copper tones in fall and winter. This vigorous, mat-forming perennial creates a vibrant carpet of color year-round, with small star-shaped yellow flowers adding additional interest in early summer. The evergreen to semi-evergreen foliage (depending on climate) cascades beautifully over walls, rocks, and container edges. Exceptionally drought and heat tolerant once established, Angelina thrives in poor soils where many other plants struggle. Its bright color makes it an excellent companion to blue and purple flowering plants.
Care Tips: Excellent drainage is essential—plant in gravelly or sandy soil, raised beds, or containers. Avoid heavy clay soils that retain moisture, especially in winter. Too much shade can cause leggy growth and diminish the vibrant golden color. Trim back as needed to control spread or maintain tidiness. Can be divided at any time during growing season to propagate. Deer and rabbit resistant. Spreads by rooting along stems but is easily controlled and rarely invasive.
