Calylophus Compact
Calylophus Compact
Calylophus Compact (Calylophus hartwegii)(also known as Sundrops) is a low-growing perennial that forms a neat, mounding habit covered with bright yellow, cup-shaped flowers that open in the evening and close by midday. This native Texas plant thrives in hot, dry conditions and poor soils, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, xeriscapes, and sunny borders. The delicate flowers bloom prolifically from spring through fall, providing extended color with minimal maintenance. Its semi-evergreen foliage adds year-round interest to the landscape.
Care Tips: Trim lightly after first heavy bloom to encourage more flowers. Avoid rich soils and overwatering which can reduce flowering and cause root rot. May go dormant during extreme heat but will rebound when temperatures moderate.
