Lantana 'Dallas Red'
Lantana 'Dallas Red'
Lantana 'Dallas Red' (Lantana camara 'Dallas Red') is a vigorous, heat-loving perennial featuring clusters of vibrant red and orange flowers that create a fiery display throughout the warm months. This butterfly magnet produces an abundance of colorful blooms that gradually change from red to orange as they mature, creating multi-colored clusters on the same plant. The aromatic foliage has a distinctive scent when brushed against and helps deter deer and rabbits. Exceptionally tolerant of heat, humidity, and drought, 'Dallas Red' lantana is perfect for hot, sunny locations where other plants struggle.
Care Tips: Prune back by one-third in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and encourage dense growth. May die back to the ground in Zone 8 but will resprout from roots. Remove berries before they ripen if spread is a concern, as birds distribute seeds. Wear gloves when handling, as foliage may cause skin irritation in sensitive individuals.
